LINCOLN COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM

Board of Trustees Meeting April 18, 2013

1:00 p.m. – LaBarge Branch Library – LaBarge, Wyoming

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. by Chairman Kenney. Present were Judy Crank, Missy Harris, Diane Kenney, Brenda McGinnis and Marika Thayer. Debra Hess attended via tele-conference. Laura Beck and Susan Park were absent.

Chairman Kenney asked if there were any changes or additions to the agenda or the March 21, 2013 minutes. There were no changes. The agenda and minutes were accepted by consensus.

Judy moved to accept the end-of-month March vouchers and the April vouchers in the amount of $34,032.35. Debra seconded. Motion carried.

Brenda reviewed the proposed FY14 budget for the Board. Debra moved to approve the proposed FY14 budget as presented. Judy seconded. Motion carried.

The following Discussion Items were reviewed:

Digital Materials The library is investigating providing additional eBooks and eAudiobooks to our patrons. 3M and Overdrive are being compared as to the title availability, cost, ease of use and customer support.

Recorded Books is offering a bundle physical/digital audio books for WYLD member libraries. We can purchase books on CD and then purchase digital titles for the OneClick collections for about 15% more.

Let It Snow Winter Reading Programs The winter reading programs have come to an end. Participation in the programs was good.

Outreach The Kemmerer library held a WHC book discussion on April 16^th. Star Valley reading group will hold its discussion on May 1^st. Thayne book club is meeting on April 18^th.

Workforce Center offered classes in the Alpine Library on April 19th. Thayne eBook classes were offered April 15^th and 16^th. Cokeville’s sign language class meets on Wednesdays.

Star Valley library held a book signing on April 13^th by author Tom Roulstone.

LSTA Grant The LCLS received a networking and technology grant from the Wyoming State Library in the amount of $2,455.

Director’s Retreat Brenda advised the board of highlights from the public library director’s retreat.

Director Evaluations One director evaluation was shared with the Board.

Upcoming events were noted.

Financial statements, librarians’ reports, cataloger’s report and the FY13 action plan were reviewed.

Chairman Kenney adjourned the meeting at 1:50 p.m.

When weather does not permit travel, meetings will be by teleconference. Meeting dates may be changed by vote of the board, with appropriate public notice given of any change. Meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
